Public broadcasting system WOSU has started encouraging its Columbus, Ohio, supporters to donate coupons for digital television converters. Working with the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging and LifeCare Alliance, WOSU hopes that the effort will ease the transition for elderly residents unable to afford the converter box (let alone a new digital TV) without assistance, or who lack information about the February 2009 switch. The agencies plan to use the donated coupons to buy converters from area electronics stores, which will be given to fixed-income and disabled seniors.
