Software engineer and collaborative artist Zachary Booth Simpson’s Mine-Control installations rely on participants’ shadows to create interactive artworks that inspire a childlike sense of connection to one’s environment.  The idea of viewer agency motives Simpson, who finds this level of interrelationship between art and audience to be “both challenging and magical.”

The permanent exhibits and traveling works that comprise Mine-Control reflect Simpson’s dual background in game design and hard science.  While works like Marble Marshal and Sanduse Simpson’s shadow detection techniques to create playful pieces, Save the Baby? demands cooperation between audience members, and ???????? ????? ????????Moderation and Flower Garden offer visitors games that explore complex systems and evolution.
