The Helsinki-themed collaborative media and art project CityWall allows users to explore images and data gleaned from the Internet–particularly items from YouTube and Flickr.  With help from the Ubiquitous Interaction research group, CityWall’s creators designed an interface that allows passersby to manipulate pieces of data as if they were physical artifacts, offering an intuitive, almost visceral way to structure information while reaching visitors with a wide range of technological skill levels.

The installation encourages multiple users, creating a sense of civic awareness that is playful and interactive.  A collaborative experience, on an immediate level the wall connects users to passersby while integrating them into the life of the city by promoting special events and commemorating the past.
