Greetings all,
I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Originally from outside Chicago, I came to the east coast first to work at Brown University, and then to pursue Graduate Studies at Boston University in Human Development. Boston has been good to me so far.
I bring (what I think is) a unique perspective to the Collaborative. Stemming from a strong background in curriculum development and instruction, educational research, my interests have recently turned towards psychology and the social sciences, with an interest in counseling psychology, particularly how the arts and/or creativity fosters resiliency and/or productivity. It has been both my professional and personal experience that the more creative alternatives to teaching, learning, comprehension, and design, the more positive the outcomes. Mainstream/traditional systems of instruction, assessment, and engagement need a thorough revamping.
And although the threaded theme through such ideas seems largely based in EDUCATION, it is hardly limited to such a category. My interests are essentially focused on a reevaluation of the art of communication, across all disciplines, professions, and generations. If it is possible to always engage others in a unique and productive manner, the limits of relationship building and productivity are endless.
