Recycled Canvas, our recycled research wordpress theme that collects data about its users, has been around for a pretty long time now. We’ve collected an incredible amount of data. We’ve had thousands of experimenters participate (some for a few hours, others a few days, and a wonderful few for the entire time). In that time we’ve managed to have some great discussions, design ideas, usability results, and a whole lot of quantitative and qualitative data. Over five million data points have been sampled as the result of the experiment. That’s sampled, not collected. Giving an average of 100 data points per user, that’s 50,000 unique user paths through the theme and its iterations - and incredible amount of evidence to understand the design and justify new design decisions.
We just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who participated in the experiment. It’s not over, not by any means, but at this point we *think* we might just have enough data to say something meaningful and we think that the recycled research methodology has been demonstrated successfully by this experiment as well as the others we’ve worked on.
More to come, enjoy these mosaics of the theme built from all of the experimenter sites that participated.
