We’ve got the mousetrack visualizations working (go to the experimenter list here to check it out, follow the visualize link).

Mousey

Some notes:

  • There are preferences, but I wouldn’t even go into them right now. They are pretty broken.
  • The page really only looks ok in Firefox. IE renders ‘ok’ but with some visual glitches. Safari 3 doesn’t seem to load the mousetrack image (and is therefore, not usable)
  • The large the area the longer the time.
  • The cursor directions represent the direction the mouse was traveling.
  • Green areas represent entrance points - a user’s first mouse activity on a page.
  • Red areas represent exit points - as user’s last mouse activity on a page.
  • The numbers beside the points represent their order in the user sequence.
  • If you are feeling brave with preference setting, under clusters you can display smaller groups of users (like one or two).

There are some wild bugs right now. The algorithm used for selecting which experimenters are live is a little weird. Let me know if you aren’t being listed.

Matthew is the Director of the Collaborative. He writes rarely, and that makes him sad.
